The UK is trying to find a solution for the surge in knife crime. The government, community organisations and families are all trying to find it.
Some organisations have spent thousands of pounds on research, only to tell us that the reason young people get involved in this type of crime is because their fathers are absent.
I believe the problem is much deeper than that.
In my quest to find a solution, I turned to the Bible and came across 1 Corinthians chapter 13, the chapter on love, famous with Bishop Michael Curry who gave the sermon at the wedding of Prince Harry and Megan Markle. He said “love is the answer”.
I believe if we can teach and show love, the world would be a better place. Love conquers all.
You might be able to predict the future and understand all the mysteries of the world, but if you don’t have the love of God in your heart, then you’re missing out.
During one of our church services someone spoke about two of his elderly friends, who were waiting at a bus stop, an altercation arose between two groups of young people, one of the young men reached for his knife, one of the elderly women told him to “drop the knife”. He dropped it and the elderly woman give him a hug instead of a telling off.
Through her act of love the young man became disorientated and kept asking “where am I?”
This is what real love does, it can change a life.
