The register office where generations of babies were registered as Redbridge residents is set to move next month.

Residents looking to register a birth, marriage, death or carry out nationality checking will have to go to Redbridge Town Hall, in High Road, from October 2.

Couples will also be able to marry or enter into a civil partnership at the Renaissance style Grade II listed building in Ilford.

The service is currently based at Queen Victoria House but due to the relocation, the office will be closed from September 27.

Options to develop the current site of the register office in Barkingside are currently being explored.

Operating hours will be Monday to Friday 9am to 4pm and the team can be contacted through their existing email address register.office@redbridge.gov.uk and on 020 8708 7123.

Councillor Kam Rai, cabinet member for finance and support services, said “This is a positive move for the service and part of our work to bring more of our services together in one place.

“The new venue will offer more accessible offices for registration services and a greater choice of rooms for civil and marriage ceremonies.”
