A host of mayors in their robes and chains of office gathered in Woodford Green for the Mayor of Redbridge’s civic service.
The 241 Squadron of the Air Cadets, led by the mayor’s cadet Natashya Holder, provided a guard of honour as Cllr Linda Huggett and seven other mayors from neighbouring boroughs, entered All Saints Church, Inmans Row, on Sunday, September 10.
Cllr Huggett said: “I had over 100 people attend the service which included Scouts, Sea Cadets, Sea Rangers, and a pearly king and queen, the police and both my chosen charities – Haven House and Saint Francis hospices.”
Chingford and Woodford Green MP Iain Ducan Smith and the Deputy Lieutenant of Redbridge Thomas Chan also attended the service.
Mayors attended from Brentwood, Havering, Waltham Forest, Maldon, Thurrock and Swale along with the Speaker of Tower Hamlets.
Cllr Huggett became Mayor of Redbridge in May. She is holding a fundraising quiz for her Mayor’s Appeal at Woodford Bowling Club, Kings Avenue, Woodford Green on Saturday, September 23. To find out more, email redbridgemayorsappeal@hotmail.com
