A GP practice has encouraged more patients to get involved with her surgery, following a “very successful” information week.

Last week the Newbury Group Practice, in Perrymans Farm Road, Newbury Park, held informative awareness events, with groups such as the Expert Patient Programme and Redbridge Concern for Mental Health running stalls.

Catherine Hunt, a retired nurse practitioner, said: “The week went really, really well.

“On Friday we had the Expert Patient Programme for people who suffer from chronic illnesses.

“They run Fit For Fun, which is a free programme which helps patients with chronic illnesses, such as arthritis, take part in healthy activities which improves their lives.”

Mrs Hunt explained the practice is trying to form a group of ten people to take part.

“I also need more people to join the patient participation group (PPG), and involved at the surgery,” she said.

She said the PPG helped arrange events like the information week, which informs elderly patients who cannot access computers easily.
