Redbridge Rotary Club
A mother who experienced every parents worst nightmare joined Rotarians at their weekly meeting to raise awareness of an issue that can strike without warning.
Each week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of an undiagnosed heart condition.
Della Tudisca, shared with the group the tragic story of how her 14-year-old daughter Isabelle, known as Izzy, suddenly collapsed and died last July.
In all outward appearances the teenager appeared healthy with a zest for life and showed no signs of illness or prior symptoms but had an undiagnosed heart condition.
Della, her husband and younger daughter were supported by Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).
The charity provided bereavement counselling, found out and explained the cause behind Isabelle’s death.
CRY is campaigning for all young people between the ages of 14 and 35 to have heart screening.
Della attend the Rotarian’s event to help raise awareness and the fact that young people aged between 14 and 35 can book a free place at a CRY screening event at testmyheart.org.
Redbridge Rotary Club welcomes new members and meet every Tuesday at 7pm at Luigi’s Restaurant, Beehive Lane, Gants Hill. For more information visit redbridgerotaryclub.org
