A man has died after being “thrown from a car” following a crash on the A406 yesterday.
Officers discovered a damaged vehicle and two injured men while on routine patrol at 4.45am.
Emergency services attended the incident and a 24-year-old man and a 31-year-old man were both taken to an east London hospital where the older man later died.
An Ilford fire station spokesman said: “They had already been ejected from the car when they crashed – they were thrown from the car.”
The crash occurred southbound between the Redbridge and Charlie Brown roundabouts, after the M11 slip road.
A London Fire Brigade spokesman added: “The car collided with road furnishings.”
Police have not released the name of the dead man but have confirmed his identity and informed the next of kin.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and has been bailed to May, pending further enquires.
