The new MP for Ilford North asked his first question in the House of Commons today, calling for a debate on the “impending closure” the A&E at King George Hospital.
Wes Streeting asked the Leader of the House Commons Chris Grayling MP: “Given that both of Redbridge’s NHS trusts are in special measures, primary care is in crisis and our accident and emergency waiting times last winter were among the worst in the country, will the Leader of the House arrange for a debate on the impending closure of the accident and emergency unit at King George hospital, which is opposed by the overwhelming majority of the people of Ilford North?”
Conservative Mr Grayling told Mr Streeting he would have the opportunity to debate the issue at “the start of next week”.
Mr Streeting told his 15,018 followers on Twitter he had asked the question in House of Commons soon afterwards.
