A man in his 60s could have "life-changing" injuries after being found with a knife wound this morning.

Police officers and London's Air Ambulance were called to High Road in Seven Kings at 8.49am today (March 1) and medics treated the man, found with a knife injury, before he was taken to an east London hospital.

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: "His (victim's) injuries have been assessed as not life-threatening, but possibly life-changing."

The road has since remained shut and bus route 86 affected, with traffic diverted to nearby streets. No arrests have been made, but a crime scene remains in place.

It comes after two stabbing incidents were reported in Havering in the last ten days. 

Labour MP Sam Tarry, for Ilford South, claimed the crime epidemic in London is "spiralling out of control" in a tweet.

The Met Police have urged anyone with information about today's incident to come forward.

A Met spokesperson said in a statement: “Anyone who witnessed this incident or has information should call 101 or Tweet @MetCC quoting 1577/1MAR."
