With the sun shining over the last few weeks, Londoners have been rushing out to find places with great food and outdoor space.
On Sunday, June 11, accompanied by one of my friends I headed to Feels Like June in Canary Wharf for dinner and found exactly that.
The restaurant’s interior was stylish and modern, with plentiful of indoor and outdoor space perfect for these summer months.
Feels Like June is filled with plants, making the spot feel summery and calming.
The staff were attentive and friendly, talking us through the menu and explaining that the idea at the restaurant is to order small plates and share.
So, my friend and I started with padron peppers, grilled halloumi with a spiced chilli jam and fried cauliflower bites.
The peppers were fresh and with a hint of chilli, the halloumi was crisp and salty and perfectly complemented by the sweetness of the chilli jam.
The cauliflower bites were equally as delicious – they were piping hot and full of flavour.
It’s worth noting that the portion sizes at Feels Like June were extremely generous and we were starting to feel full even after just these.
But, we couldn’t resist moving onto some of the other dishes.
For our main course, I opted for the veggie tacos which came with refried beans and guacamole and they were to die for.
They came in charcoal-style tortillas, which made the plate very Instagrammable and cool.
My friend went in another direction and ordered a steak, which she requested to be cooked rare/medium rare and it arrived just as she likes it.
To share, we ordered some spicy broccoli and a gem lettuce salad, both of which were great, fresh additions to our meals and the kick from the broccoli was the highlight of the dinner for me.
We were both absolutely stuffed after polishing off all of these plates, but we were tempted by the dessert menu.
While Feels Like June offers a variety of incredible desserts – our waiter recommended the limoncello tiramisu – we were too full to go for anything more than some ice cream.
We shared two scoops of the chocolate sorbet and it was incredible.
The sorbet was rich and creamy, I would never have guessed that it wasn’t ice cream.
Feels Like June is in a brilliant location only around a five minute walk from Canary Wharf underground station.
It is a phenomenal spot for anyone looking to enjoy a fresh, summery, sociable meal in south London.
