A Metropolitan Police officer has been suspended after being charged with stalking a woman.
PC Ben Bunsell, attached to the Central South Command Unit, was arrested on Friday, July 28.
The offence is alleged to have taken place between June and July 2023 while the officer was off duty and relates to one female.
Bunsell was charged on July 29 with one count of stalking without fear, alarm or distress and has been suspended from duty.
He will appear in custody at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday, July 31.
The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards are aware of the situation.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “A serving Metropolitan Police officer was arrested on Friday, 28 July on suspicion of harassment and stalking.
“The offence is alleged to have occurred between June and July 2023 while the officer was off duty and relates to one female.
“The officer, PC Ben Bunsell attached to Central South Command Unit, was charged on 29 July with one count of stalking without fear/alarm/distress, contrary to section 2A(1) and (4) of the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.
“He will appear in custody at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 31 July.
“The Met's Directorate of Professional Standards are aware.
“The officer has been suspended from duty.”
