Families in Redbridge Village got together for their annual litter sweep to clean up their neighbourhood.
The effort was organised by Edward Hickman, co-secretary of their Redbridge Village committee.
“We managed to shift at least 20 bags of varied rubbish from our streets,” he says. “It was quite a successful turn out of volunteers and a great way to get the community together.”
The families were joined by Redbridge councillor Jamal Uddin and Redbridge Council’s neighbourhood engagement officer Simon Stodel who both gave up their spare time to lend a hand.
Now the committee, with Redbridge Council backing, is encouraging households in other neighbourhoods to join them and do the same to keep the urban environment nice and tidy with some TLC.
