Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver has announced he will open a new restaurant in central London this November.

The 48-year-old’s latest venture, Jamie Oliver Catherine Street, will mark the foodie polymath’s return to the UK restaurant business since his chain of Italian restaurants collapsed four years ago.

Housed in a Grade I listed building in Covent Garden, Jamie Oliver Catherine Street will be a provenance-led restaurant using independent suppliers and producers and which showcases Jamie’s ethos of creating accessible, healthy food for families.

The 130-cover restaurant, which has an additional 30 seats on its terrace, will use suppliers such as Flourish Produce, Westcombe Dairy, and Wild Card Brewery to create some of Jamies most loved dishes and as well as new recipes available only to try at Jamie Oliver Catherine Street.

The restaurant will see Jamie work alongside a high-calibre team, including head chef Chris Shail, who has worked with Oliver for eight years.

Pastry chef Emma Jackson has also joined the project, after working in kitchens at Soho Farmhouse and Petersham Nurseries.

General manager Caezer Cruz has worked with Jamie for 16-years and will head up the front of house team.

Jamie, who grew up in a family of publicans, first announced he had a project brewing in November, he revealed his new restaurant’s logo on an Instagram post yesterday, Thursday, August 10.

The post, which has garnered 25K likes said: “I am SO happy to announce my return to the UK restaurant industry that I love so dearly with my new place @jamieolivercatherinest!!

“We’re creating a menu that reflects my love of Britain’s rich & diverse food culture and champions independent producers and suppliers.

“My hope is that Catherine Street will be a wonderfully welcoming, happy place to dine, with great service, and delicious food at its heart. To say I’m excited is an understatement! Hope to see you at Catherine Street later this year.”

In a formal statement, Jamie added that the restaurant “feels like an opportunity to celebrate where I’ve come from, and I’ll be sharing dishes inspired by the food that’s shaped me, dishes that I grew up cooking on the line”.

He also added that the restaurant will “go big” on daily specials and that the “robust” menu will have something for everyone.

“It definitely feels like a pivotal moment in my career”, Jamie continued, “and some of the very best of my restaurant teams over the years have come back to join me on this next part of the journey.”
