A man has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving after a crash left a pedestrian fighting for his life in hospital.
Police were called to Winston Way in Ilford shortly before 2am this morning (September 16).
The London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance also attended after it was reported that a car had hit a pedestrian.
The man was immediately rushed to hospital where he remains in a life-threatening condition.
A police spokesperson said that officers are working to identify him and inform his family.
The driver of the car, a 21-year-old man, was also taken to hospital with minor injuries.
He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and drug driving. He remains in custody at an east London police station.
