A man allegedly shouted racial abuse at another man in a busy high street amid the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas.
Police said that a man has been charged with race hate offences linked to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.
The incident took place at 6pm on Sunday (November 11), when a man aged in his 60s was racially abused in Ilford High Road.
Dijan Akhtar, 51, of no fixed address, has since been charged with racially aggravated public order offences.
Metropolitan Police Chief Supt Louise Puddefoot said: “The repercussions of the conflict between Israel and Hamas continue to be felt within London.
“Our officers continuing to support local communities and pursue those that are committing offences."
Police said that officers continue to investigate a wide range of offences including hate crimes, violent disorder and assault following a pro-Palestine march and counter protest on Armistice Day.
