A serving Met police officer has been charged with attempted rape.
Sergeant Elliot Butler, attached to the Met’s policing unit in Hackney and Tower Hamlets, was also charged with causing a male to engage in penetrative sexual activity on October 27.
The offences are alleged to have taken place in 2013, when Sgt Butler was a Met Special Constable.
The charges come following an investigation by the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards.
Sgt Butler has been bailed and is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday (November 27).
A police spokesperson said that he is currently suspended from duty.
