Shocking footage has been shared online which appears to show the moment a man was stabbed in the back of a taxi in Rainham. 

The footage shared to X (formerly Twitter) has gone viral, with the Metropolitan Police confirming it is linked to a stabbing in Spencer Road last month. 

On June 24,The Recorder reported on a stabbing in the residential street that had taken place the day before.

The victim took himself to hospital and reported the matter to police as he went.

One of the taxi passengers is captured making it back into the car before he is attacked.

The incident was caught on dashcam footage lasting just more than three minutes.

One of the windows to the taxi is smashed and the man appears to be stabbed in the arm. 

In the footage, those in masks appear to make several more attempts to stab the taxi passenger, who also appears to have a blade, even as the taxi driver tries to drive away.

Blood is seen seeping through the sleeve of his t-shirt and some blood appeared to have come from his face.

A spokesperson said: "Police are aware of a video circulating on social media showing dashcam footage of a man in a car being attacked by a group of men armed with knives.

"The incident was reported to the Met on 23 June and remains under investigation.

"An investigation is ongoing."
