A hospice for seriously ill children in east London received a royal visit.

Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie attended a garden party at Haven House Children's Hospice in Woodford Green yesterday (September 10), where they met patients and their families.

The event was hosted as a thank you to those who have supported the charity over the last 20 years, a Haven House spokesperson said.

Previous trees have been planted by former Prime Ministers Margaret Thatcher and Sir Winston Churchill.

Their tree will stand alongside a hazel tree gifted to the hospice by the sisters' late grandmother Queen Elizabeth II to mark her Platinum Jubilee in 2022.
