A man diagnosed with Parkinson’s who set up a boxing class helping others with the condition is currently on an extraordinary trek along the 150-mile Annapurna Circuit in Nepal.
Jagdeep Singh Aujla, a 55-year-old from Romford who was diagnosed in 2021, began his sponsored trek on September 8 and finishes on October 1.
He dedicates his time to help others affected and is raising money for Parkinson’s UK towards research.
“The Annapurna Circuit is not just a personal challenge,” he said. “It’s one of the world’s most beautiful regions.
“Nepal’s stunning landscapes and meeting local communities make this journey even more meaningful. It’s a chance to support a cause that means so much to me.”
He has already beaten his target by raising more than £4,000 from the trek.
Jagdeep and daughter Japleen successfully trekked Mount Kilimanjaro in east Africa in just seven days in 2022, raising £10,000 for Parkinson’s UK.
He was backed by the charity’s support group at the Redbridge and Epping Forest branch.
He also started a non-combative boxing class for those living with Parkinson’s and is researching benefits of exercise for patients while raising awareness about the condition.
