Children will get to fine tune their moves and stay fit after a community group secured vital funding.
The British Pakistani Christian Association, based in Green Lane, Ilford, will be offering free dance and gymnastics classes after it got a helping hand from charity Church Urban Fund.
The community group will put on classes for six to 11-year-olds, who live in either Loxford or Clementswood wards, for 20 weeks and will give priority to children from families receiving government benefits.
The course, which has limited places, will partner up with the North East London Health Foundation Trust, Redbridge Healthy Eating and the Seventh Day Adventist Church, to provide health tests and nutritional advice to children and their families.
Association chairman Wilson Chowdhry, of Ilford, said: “It means that children from two of the most deprived areas in the borough are able to receive free dance classes.
“We want young people to live overall healthier lives and we can do that by getting them more active and learning new skills.”
