Redbridge Badminton Performance Centre member Raymond Tang won a gold standard National under-15 boys’ singles event recently, to cap an outstanding season for the club, with its members winning 35 national medals.
Tang’s triumph, plus a silver and a bronze medal in gold standard tournaments, followed a collective haul of four silver medals for players in silver-standard competitions and nine gold, seven silver and 12 bronze medals won by players entering bronze-level events.
The winners included Riya Amin, Kusa Shah, Dillon Malde and Prashan Clare, who clinched their first ever National events medals and Keya Patani, who gained a silver medal in an under-11 National tournament.
Jack Booth also trains with the United Sports-sponsored Redbridge Performance Centre, currently relocated to Ilford County High School while work is completed on a state of the art 12-court badminton hall at Redbridge Sports Centre.
Booth earlier won three gold medals at the World Transplant Games in Sweden.
Of the 36 players trained by head coach Clive Palmer, Jenni Crisp, Eddie Chow, Joe Sheehan and Terry Coleman, 29 have been selected to play for Essex and Hertfordshire in their relevant age groups.
