Dagenham & Redbridge have signed experienced striker Freddie Sears until the end of the 2023-24 season.
Now 33, Sears started his career at West Ham United, coming up through their ranks and scoring a winning goal on his first-team debut as a substitute against Blackburn in March 2008.
Sears had loan spells with Crystal Palace, Coventry and Scunthorpe, before joining Colchester towards the end of 2011-12 and scoring twice in 11 appearances.
That led to a permanent move and he went on to score 34 times in 98 games before moving further up the A12 to join Ipswich Town.
But after 34 goals in 217 appearances for the Portman Road club, he was released in June 2021 and returned to Colchester.
He added another 21 goals in 87 games for U's but was released in June.
Sears will wear the number 24 shirt for Daggers, who visit Halifax Town tonight.
The game will be showing live in the Ted Hardy Suite at Victoria Road for supporters who are unable to travel to Yorkshire.
