Dagenham & Redbridge were edged out by high-flying Solihull Moors in front of the live TV cameras at Victoria Road.
A third successive victory would've lifted Ben Strevens' side up to ninth and they were first on the scoreboard late in the first half through Tom Eastman.
But the visitors levelled just before the break and grabbed a winner soon after the restart.
Good defending by Elliott Johnson blocked a low shot from Matthew Warburton in the opening stages, before Jake Hessenthaler, Freddie Sears and Inih Effiong combined to win a corner.
Harry Phipps sent a looping head over from Josh Hare's delivery, before Warburton fired wide from long range for the visitors.
Daggers went close when David Longe-King's cross was headed down by Effiong and a goalmouth scramble developed before being cleared.
And more good play from the hosts saw Hessenthaler pull the ball back for Effiong, only for a defender to intervene at the telling moment.
Sears picked up the first yellow card of the night, before smashing an effort against the crossbar from another dangerous Hare corner on 33 minutes.
But Daggers opened the scoring on 44 minutes when Hare's excellent cross found Eastman at the far post to head home.
The home side's joy was shortlived as Jay Benn levelled in first-half stoppage time.
And the second half was only three minutes old when Josh Kelly put the visitors 2-1 up.
Former Dagger Joss Labadie was booked for kicking the ball away, with Joe Newton cautioned for a foul on Hessenthaler soon after.
But the hosts had captain Elliot Justham to thank for a fine low save to deny Kelly a third Solihull goal just past the hour mark.
Johnson played Josh Rees through at the other end, but Aaron Flahavan was able to smother the danger.
And Daggers were denied by the woodwork twice in quick succession as Hare and Sears both went close to levelling things up.
Phipps made way for Charley Kendall with 12 minutes remaining, as Daggers looked to bolster their attack.
And the hosts went agonisingly close once again when another Hare corner created problems and Effiong had a header cleared off the line on 84 minutes.
